A Big Thank You!

I returned yesterday from this wonderful conference in Schaumburg Illinois

Andy Adsit and Linnea Evans for being such wonderful friends!

I had so much fun seeing so many amazing teachers like Angel and Joan, Angie and Kayln ( I hope I got that right)

We Love Eric Carle Literacy Center Fun!

Here are my independent Literacy Center activities for this week.   We are celebrating  Eric Carle. One of our favorite Kindergarten authors! We actually have so many great activities for Eric Carle we will do a second week of activities with his books.
 Above is what we did with The Mixed Up Chameleon . 
We used tear art, dot paints and markers!

favorite Eric Carle books. 


Of course everyone loves The Very Quiet Cricket!


We made these cute Mamas with their "joey" snug in the pocket. On the back we wrote what our Mother's love to do!

Eric Carle's special way he creates his art.

Spring is Here! Literacy Centers for the Week before Vacation!

This week we will be sequencing  a chick hatching and then put it inside a plastic egg. I also put a little fuzzy chick from the dollar stores inside.


Napkin books are so easy and fun!


We will be searching with our magnifying glasses for tiny words. On the back of this page we write a story using the words we found! This is activity is found in my 


We finished up  our Eric Carle Unit with this flow map and then my Kiddos made a butterfly on  a branch. The branch was a paper towel roll covered with brown paper. 
The Caterpillar flow map went inside!


The butterflies came out so cute!



Last week we also completed our Seahorse
 Opinions and Facts based on Eric Carle's Mister Seahorse.

If your attending my "Take Me to the Zoo" Make and Take be sure to bring scissors, glue  and a mini stapler. I have some darling zoo activities planned that I think you will LOVE!

"Hang on to your hat wherever you are or the wild wind will blow it far!" I posted earlier this week my cuties below in their spring hats! Here is what the bulletin board looks like.

This TP roll bee idea I found on Pinterest a few weeks ago. For our "Bug Week" last week I added  a little writing assignment to go inside. My Kiddos made these during literacy centers. 
The yellow paper and black stripes were stapled on for them. 
The rest they did themselves.

Pinwheels and Pets!

Last week I brought out this fun activity that uses pinwheels to practice sight words! Children blow the pinwheel read the word on the top and record it on their "Which way did  your word blow sheet!" (P.S. my little model is a cutie pie!)


Next they use those words to write a story a story on about a frog!

Monday we will be doing a unit on Pets.
 Here are a few of my literacy centers for next week.
My Kiddos will complete a "How To" on taking care of a fish and write all about pets in a mini book shaped like a bone. They will make a "puppy pouch" with my parent volunteers to put their dog bone in side! We will label a dog and make a little doggy/ poem to be used as a puppet or a book cover!


They will complete their Sight Word Rock and Roll 
for the week with the "et" family. They use wooden cubes to put onset and rimes together for "et".
I'll post more later this week! 
I'm off to a Sock -Hop with my little ballerina!

Just put my May Quilt up! I't makes me feel like Spring!!


I saw this cute butterfly and poem from Franklyspeakingblogspot and had to make it. Our picture frames below went inside! I also have a dear friend's granddaughter in my class and she came and made these sweet little clay bunnies for each one to give their Mommies!

It's A Zoo Out There!

We are finishing up the year with our Zoo Unit !
I'm taking lots of these activities I Teach K Las Vegas!!
 I hope to see you there!


Last week we had a great time visiting the Santa Ana Zoo!


We learned lots of great Lion Facts to go in our 
"All About Lions Booklet!"
We used a Glossary, Thinking Maps and Graphic Organizers to have lots of interesting facts to write about! I was so proud of my kiddos with how much they could write at this time of the year.


These darling Zookeepers were used for
 book covers and paper dolls.


We also used our thinking maps to write about giraffes. 
Did you know giraffes sleep standing up?


It's Over, It's Done, But Wasn't Kindergarten Fun?

 I'm showing this picture first because it sums up the last day of Kindergarten! Autographed bucket-heads!


This is the tag that is flipped over in the picture.

We spent part of the morning autographing buckets!


I also made photo/ autograph books for each child with pictures 
from the school year. So Fun!


We played Beach Blanket Sight Word Bingo with 
"Smarties" for markers and had ice cream sundaes. Yum!

What's a last day of kinder with out a little water fun?
We did water races, water balloon toss 
and a from the knees down water balloon fight!

A dear friend grandmother of Violet and amazing retired Kindergarten teacher Pam Peters made these darling t-shirts with my Kiddos to wear on the last day!

 presenting at I Teach K Las Vegas! 


 I was also able attend lots of sessions and go to the TPT conference. My head is still swimming with excitement!
I was so happy to get to see my amazing friends Kim, Shari, Elizabeth and Deedee and I was thrilled to get to meet Victoria Saied from 2 SuperTeachers


One of the highlights was being able to hug Nikki the amazing artist of Melonheadz. I got to wear the ever so famous "Tutu Apron" by Sandi Welch of Kinder Gardening. I met some new Southern California friends named the Malibu Mutts! I am always thrilled to see my friend Crystal from Kreativeinkinder!



I went to an dynamic TPT session put on by these 
"Super Women" Rachelle, Hope and Michelle! 
I had the pleasure of meeting Karen from Mrs Stamps blogspot at our "net working" session! So many creative bloggers! I always enjoy giving a big shout out to Lisa and Linda from Kinderlit.Shari and I met a very talented teacher Autumn from Primary Techie you have got to check out her stuff AMAZING!
I have many more pictures to share of my week I'm so inspired!

Pocket Full of Zoo Fun! Now you can too!

I had such an AMAZING time meeting so many creative teachers!



I even got to meet a fun group of teachers from Nigeria!


These little guys are peanut monkeys. 
Kids use a Sharpie to draw the face, ears and bellies!

 Literacy Center activities I will begin introducing in September.

Poetry Journals  are a great way to teach letters,
  sounds, words and poems to kindergarten and first graders.



I introduce Write the Room early on to give my kiddos
 a chance to move around during Center time!


 Self Portraits are always fun to start the first week 
of kindergarten and first grade. Have your kiddos draw a picture once a month throughout the school year.

Finishing up my Birthday treats for my Kinders this year!

August and September Happenings from Kinderbykim!

Late August we began and we are off to a busy but great start! I am so behind posting on my blog and have a few minutes before soccer today so... I thought I'd try to catch up! The first day of school we made this simple project ad I even got their first day of school picture on them by Back To School Night that night.
(Yes we have BTSN the first day!)


The first week we also read The Kissing Hand and made this cutie. 
We talked about how we felt about coming to kindergarten!


Our "Buckets of Fun" necklaces were a great success to wear home the first day of school!


During September we also made these cuties 
and hung them around the room! 
Thanks to Julie Lee for this darling project idea!


                       


Kindergartners love to cook! We made Friendship Fruit and yummy Applesauce!

Hot cocoa in my cup. Yum, yum drink it up! 
This is an oldie but goody, 
I made years ago and decided to do this year. 
These cuties give my room a cozy feel!
